I am Sathiya, a 33 year old makeup artist with 6 years experience in the industry, and three years as a professional makeup artist.

I am from Thiruvannamalai. I studied beauty therapy in a government scheme in Chennai at Pivot Point.
Then I went back to my village, got married and settled in Panaolai Paadi.

It had only 2 buses and was very backward. I have been married for 3 years and have a one-year-old child. There were problems due to dowry, and I had to earn for myself.

Beauty Therapy helped me make money to support myself. I have done makeup for brides (Rs. 1500). I would cycle to do bridal makeup with my baby in the back.

Word spread and I got orders from interior parts of the village too. The brides & their families took good care of me and my baby. Yearly twice, I conduct classes for those below the poverty line and especially women for empowerment.

We are now a team of 9 homemakers who coordinate to cater for multiple functions. I provide free Mehendi service for advertisement. I am interested in learning advanced makeup techniques. Ten years from now, I want to be more confident, learn more techniques and start my own bridal studio.

Hi, I am Thulasi and I am a 46-year-old Makeup artist with 12 years experience. I was a school teacher till 2002, but the makeup was always my passion. I paid in advance twice for a makeup course, but I couldn’t join because of health problems. I finally learnt makeup in Shaman’s beauty college in Bangalore in 2004. I practised there for 2 years and worked with VLCC for 6 months. I studied an advanced course and moved to Chennai in 2007. I worked on more than 400 brides.

Once, when I went to the parlour to get my eyebrows done, A bride was getting her hair done. I observed that and replicated the same on my sister in law who had her wedding the same day. The entire family appreciated it. This was the turning point and made me decide to take up makeup full time.

I get inspiration from videos, TV shows, and from my brother in law’s has a photo studio. I got an order from them. I was very nervous for my first order. I made a to-do list and prepared myself. The order was successful and boosted my confidence. Now, I have a team of 5 girls working under me. I want to develop and reach greater heights.

The Highlight of my career:

A client booked my service for her engagement. She was very impressed with her makeup and booked me for the wedding and party makeup for 23 guests. They’ve referred me to their family functions and while waiting for a client in the lobby, a random person saw my vanity box and wanted me to do her makeup. There was no room ready, so I took her to the restroom and got her ready within 10 minutes. She was extremely happy. The happiness on the bride’s face keeps me going. My friend circle has grown multifold.

My name is Jeysri and I’m a makeup artist from Madurai with 5 years of professional experience and 15 years in the field. I was initially interested only in the beautician service. From 2010, I learnt professional courses from Mumbai and Bangalore and started as a professional makeup artist. I was lucky to have complete family support in my venture.

I have worked on more than 500 brides. ‘Vidya Hair and Makeup’, in the UK is my role model and my dream is to be trained under her. 10 years from now, I wish to be an established celebrity makeup artist and start a bridal studio and training centre in Chennai.

I want to be a trainer of master classes. I can transform anybody into the best-looking bride. Makeup is a creative outlet for me and to see a smile on the bride is fulfilling and satisfying. Being a creative person, this allows me to really enjoy my career.

I am Archana from Chennai. I am an Engineer by profession and aspiring Makeup Artist by Passion. I did my Engineering because everyone in our family asked me to do so. I was so aimless in life and would follow what others advised me. I never loved my profession and never had the urge to succeed. I worked for three years and have never cherished the moments.

Post my marriage and the birth of my baby, I realised the work that we do has to be enjoyed and that will lead us to success and happiness. Since my teenage, I was always a makeup lover. I would experiment a lot of styles and be recognised in the college for my style of makeup. I used to do a lot of makeovers in fashion shows at my college. Of late, I did makeup for a couple of my relatives and they were very happy with the outcome and I was flooded with compliments that boosted my confidence and paved me a way to my career. Overnight it struck me that I could follow my passion and succeed in it instead of slogging for a job that I never enjoyed.

So by then, knew I wanted to become a makeup artist and enjoy the art by making the brides look like princesses and enjoy the recognition and compliments. The beauty lies in the beholder’s eyes, so why not change the beholder’s perception by making the beauty more attractive by my art skills.

I am Sireesha, a 36-year-old from Hyderabad, and I’ve been a Makeup artist for 3 years. In 2014, I learnt makeup from Nalini & Jasmin in Mumbai. I was a cosmetologist for 5 years, and in October 2016, I started freelancing.
Makeup is my passion, and flexible work timing on the job was an additional boost. I’m planning to go to Paris to learn Makeup. I have been following many professional makeup artists for inspiration.

Ten years from now, I wish to make a mark in the Makeup industry and set up an institute. I want to be in a position to teach and provide quality service at low cost. To me, the bride’s satisfaction is the most important part of my job.

Hi, I am Kasturi Ramachandra from Bangalore. I am a professional makeup artist. Initially, I was a beautician. I met a professional makeup artist, and she asks me to work with her and l agreed. In the beginning, she treated me well, but after some time, she started to scold me in front of the bride.

That day I decided that I should learn professional makeup. After around 2-3 months, I learnt makeup from a professional makeup artist. At the time, we were 4 students. Even there, I didn’t get proper training. She told me that she will do a photo shoot, there also she did the same thing. For the morning shoot, she gives me the model at 6.30 p.m. That day I cried so much. I finally decided that I should do something in my career. After that, I went to an academy where I learnt a course in photoshop. I bought a DSLR camera. Now I am doing the best job.

Greetings. My name is Lakshmi Vijay, and I have professional experience as a Beautician for around 10 years.
I always liked bridal makeup more than any other beauty service. I have been working as a professional makeup artist for the past 3 years.

I have worked on around 25 brides even when I was a Beautician and around 15 brides as a professional MUA.
A close friend of mine called Rubashree was trained under MUA Shiva. I worked with her for a year and consider her a guide.

My family completely supported me throughout this journey from being a beautician to MUA. I do not have a particular role model and would like to imbibe the best quality in every makeup artist. 10 years from now, I wish to be an inspiration to budding MUA aspirants.

I want to be one of the best in the industry. I know that in the end, hard-work will pay.

I am Monica, a Makeup Artist with 1 years of professional experience. I am an MBA graduate and I was working in BNP Paribas. After my wedding in 2015, I  studied a beautician course & makeup course. I had a tough time managing the care of my small baby and makeup. But I worked hard and managed because it is my passion.

I am currently freelancing and will open a parlor in October. Makeup was always a passion. I took a decision to pursue it seriously after my wedding. My Husband was a big support. I really enjoy creating a unique look for each bride and I’m excited after every look I create. 

I have worked on around 25 brides till date. I Want to establish myself as a well-known and recognized makeup artist among the Top 10. I draw inspiration from Akriti Sachdev’s work.

Why I deserve this award:

1.The quality of my work makes brides smile.

2. Inspite of being a young mom, my dedication, and determination towards my job is big.
